It has been 30 years since Chicago has had an elected school board

This is an important opportunity to make sure that the decisions made by the Board are reflective of its communities. Jessica is committed to working with communities to make sure this is the case.

Beginning in January 2025 and continuing for the next two years, the Board will be a hybrid of elected and appointed members. It will become a fully elected body in 2027.

The 6th District, shown in blue in the image at right, runs from Greater Grand Crossing and Woodlawn in the south, north through central Bronzeville to the South Loop. It also includes downtown and extends as far northwest as Bucktown.
